Most pilgrims spend their days in Makkah moving between Masjid al-Haram and their hotel, focused entirely on Umrah, and it's easy to leave without ever seeing the mountains and valleys where so much of early Islamic history actually happened. Our Makkah Ziyarat taxi is built for exactly that — a private Ziyarat tour of the city's most important landmarks, at whatever pace your family wants, rather than being herded from stop to stop on a crowded group bus.

The tour usually starts at Jabal al-Nour, home to the Cave of Hira, where the first revelation was received. One thing worth knowing before you go — reaching the cave itself means a real climb, steep and uneven steps, around 45 minutes each way. A lot of families choose to just take in the mountain from the base instead, and it's still a meaningful experience even without making the climb. Either way, your driver isn't watching the clock — he waits as long as you need, because that's really the whole point of doing this privately instead of on a bus.

From there, most people continue on to Jabal Thawr, the mountain that sheltered the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr during the Hijrah, then out to the open plains of Arafat and Jabal al-Rahmah, where the Farewell Sermon was delivered. Mina and Muzdalifah come next — quieter outside of Hajj season, but they still hit differently once you're standing there.

Here's something most visitors never even hear about: the Zubaida Canal, a water system built centuries ago just to get water out to pilgrims resting in this area. Parts of it are still standing today — a small, easy-to-miss detail that says a lot about how long people have been looking after pilgrims here. The tour also passes Jannat al-Mu'alla, the historic graveyard where many of the Prophet's ﷺ family and companions are buried.

If you're wondering about timing, early morning between 7 and 9 AM, or late afternoon after Asr, tends to be the easiest window — cooler, and a few of the sites are noticeably calmer. That said, we'll run the tour whenever actually suits you, even after Isha if that fits your day better.
